A Cultivation of Will exercise has been added to the Magical Path website. It is based on an exercise given by Florence Farr, with additional suggestions by Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, in two Flying Rolls issued by Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Additional information on symbolism from the Qabala and Hindu Yogic and Tantric (Shakta) traditions has been added.
It is some time since I mentioned the Will Project on this blog, so here are some links to useful resources related to the Will Project or the Will in general. The Will Project online initiative was announced in October 2006. A brief history of the Will Project can be found here. Yearly reports for the project can be found here: Will Project Report 2007 and Will Project Report 2008.
Information on the Will from a magical perspective can be found on the Magick Wiki website.
Learn Magick website has a series of articles: Will, Imagination, and Will And Imagination.
Finally, the Esoteric Library has an article on The Magical Will.
Edgar Mitchell was the sixth man to walk on the moon traveling on NASA's Apollo 14 mission, January 31, 1971. Now, at the 2009 X-Conference, Mitchell gave a special presentation revealing that humans are not alone in the Universe, and confirming a government cover-up of UFO/alien visitation. For more information see the CNN article Former astronaut: Man not alone in universe.
I have recently finished reading and reviewing a new book by Chris Travers, entitled The Serpent and the Eagle. Chris Travers has written a highly readable book that is suitable for beginners and more advanced runic practitioners alike. Travers offers his own valuable insights and experiences on the runes, European mythology, and magic in general. The book contains information that is useful to practitioners of other magical paths, such as the construction of magical poetry - something which is a big part of Nordic/Germanic traditions.
An recent news article on LiveScience suggests that there is a part of the brain responsible for aspects of Spirituality.
Essentially it centres around the right parietal lobe in in a section that is responsible for self-awareness, responsible for defining "me". It is this section which quietens down through deep meditation and in situations where self-awareness is lost, such as various transpersonal and transcendental experiences.
