Uncontacted Tribes

On the news yesterday was information about a tribe living in the Amazon who are listed as "uncontacted" - that is they are not in regular contact with the "modern world". Tribes like this are threatened by commercial interests, such as oil exploration and the illegal logging of trees.

Go to the Survival International website to watch a video and learn more about uncontacted tribes.

Over one hundred tribes around the world choose to reject contact with
outsiders. They are the most vulnerable peoples on the planet.
Many of them are living on the run, fleeing invasions of their land by colonists, loggers, oil crews and cattle ranchers. They have often seen their friends and families
die at the hands of outsiders, in unreported massacres or epidemics.
This is their story.
